Sorry for my absence

Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted. Sorry about that. It's actually been quite a summer, and in some ways, not much of a summer at all. After my last post about the squirrel, an yes he and his little friend still come to visit, I went on vacation for a month to Chicago. That was fun, I haven't been away from home for three years so it was nice to get away. It was also VERY summery there, unlike here in Oregon, they actually get seasons. We've had a couple hot days since I've been back, but really, it's been a pretty cold and wet year. Actually, a REALLY wet year. We had the third wettest May on record and the wettest June on record. Now that it's September, the rains are returning. I'm happy because I feel like I got to have summer since I was away, but my fam who stayed home feel like summer just passed them by. Well, such is the way it goes in Northwest Oregon. I don't mind it too much, but sometimes I do wish summer lasted a little longer than our spring.

On a side note, I'm part of a wonderful group on Etsy called Natural Kids Team. It's a great bunch of folks who all make natural products for kids and families. There are so many talented people on my team and I thought I'd show off a couple of my favorites. This is just a couple mind you, I have lots of others. ^_^

First and probably my most coveted item, is this sweet little chipmunk by EvesLittleEarthlings. Isn't it just the cutest little critter you ever saw?!

Next is this super cute bunny by MuddyFeet. I have loved this bunny forever now and I so wish I could buy him. Isn't he just cuteness?!

I love wooden toys, there's just something about them that draws me. I think this forest set is just too cool, I would love to own these as well. ^_^ Made by my team's fearless leader TheEnchantedCupboard.

You must have cute little squirrlies to live in that wonderful forest, right? Here they are, made by PrettyDreamer. ^_^

Last but not least is one of my favorite needle felters. I love her style and all of her wonderful creations. She inspires me to do better and has a wonderful whimsey in her work. Meet Nushkie!

That's all for now. I hope you enjoy these wonderful items as much as I do. ^_^

  1. Maybe your winters are nice and mild and that makes up for the summers? We swelter in the summer and freeze in winter up here! I also covet that bunny from Muddy Feet!

  2. Magnificent finds and some of my favorites too! We toy with the idea of moving to Oregon one day....I could live without the 5-6 month-long summers here!

  3. Ahhh moisture and coolness. Once you visit me in the San Fernando Valley in the summer at 110, you will love, absolutely love those springs. It's amazing I cover myself in wool in the midst of that :) Thank you so much Elfie, for this wonderful post! Yes, the bunny is sooo adorable and so is Eve's little chipmunk...sooooo cute...and then there's your fantastic work, don't forget!

  4. Oh, I'm so glad that my bunny is on your list of favorites! You've picked some really wonderful items! I know what you mean about lack of seasons, ours are "Don't do anything outside because it's WAY too hot" and "Oh yeah, THIS is why we live in Phoenix! " Our evenings are finally starting to drop below 100, so it is almost fall! Yay!

  5. I could never live somewhere so hot. I melt if it's over 85 and I don't even want to leave the house then. I don't mind that it's cooler here. I just wish we didn't get quite as much rain as we do. I like snow, so I wouldn't mind a winter too, we don't always get much snow. We do get major ice storms in the winter though, you have to have a really good car for ice driving here. But for the most part, we live in a perpetual spring. There's even a Christmas song that goes "Christmas in the northwest is a gift God wrapped in green." lol So ture.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. *hugs*

  6. Over here, we are at the edge of leaping into Autumn ... one day it is hot with all the curtains and shades drawn to shelter us from that powerful late afternoon sun ... next day we are working on what we should be baking and bubbling to keep ourselves warm. The seasons are unreal ... that they follow each other so faithfully ... and just when you think there was nothing but cold and whiteness... the earth reveals itself and trees are green again ... I can never quite get over it! Thank you for sharing all your beautiful favorites!!~Pamela
